International experts to shed light on immune and brain health in Galway

This November 3-4 the public will be given an opportunity to meet some of the world’s foremost experts in functional medicine when they come together in Galway for the 3rd Annual Lifestyle and Functional Medicine Conference at the Galmont Hotel.

This year’s theme is “The Root Cause Approach to Immune and Brain Health”. There will be talks open to the public on how to eat a balance of healthy, whole foods that support optimum health, boost brain function and address immune symptoms as well as training workshops for medical and nutritional professionals (and students) in this exciting new area.

More people than ever are suffering from chronic autoimmune diseases including autoimmune thyroiditis, rheumatoid arthritis and Crohn’s disease. They naturally want answers and solutions to a range of problems that are often not addressed by current treatment protocols.

Diet has a big role to play but our world is so inundated with conflicting nutrition-related messages that it’s hard to know what to do in general let alone for specific cases.

Functional medicine is a biology-based approach that focuses on identifying and addressing the root cause of a disease from a variety of angles, taking into account everything from diet to environment and genetics and how they interact with one another on an individual basis. Every person is different and every condition a complex puzzle. Only treatments that address the root cause of a disease will have a lasting benefit beyond symptom suppression.

This is definitely one for the diary, no matter what side of the stethoscope you’re on, so come along to the Galmont Hotel on Nov 3rd and hear what the experts have to say.
