Check out our whistle-stop tour of the Dutch foodie gem, snapped on a smartphone? and don’t miss the full version of the article in the new issue of Image Interiors & Living, out today.

Amsterdam has long been overshadowed by its more famous foodie neighbours, such as Paris and Brussels – but prepare to be wooed by its gorgeous gastronomic charms, care of recent resident and gifted food stylist Ajda Mehmet. She’s snapped her favourite places for this virtual foodie tour of the city – but be sure to pick up a copy of the magazine for her full rundown on where to eat, drink, shop and hang out in the deadly Dutch capital. “I’ve fallen pretty hard for this place and it’s easy to see why,” she gushes. “Gorgeous fa?ades?and crooked charm, the canals, cute concept stores, the coffee and of course the food.” Her mini guide will give you something to start with when you visit!

“For the prettiest fa?ades,?weave in and out of the streets of the Jordaan, stopping off for some famous Dutch apple pie at Winkel 43.?Stroll along the canals in search of crooked windows and doors – Prinsengracht, Herengracht and Reguliersgracht are my favourites – and stop off for some boutique-style shopping in The Nine Streets. For markets, you are spoilt for choice, but I love Noordermarkt on a?Saturday or Albert Cuypmarkt on a weekday. If you see food stalls selling,?poffertjes – mini Dutch?pancakes – do not walk past: those little puffs of heaven are too good (you can thank me later). Here they drink their beer with bitterballen, a perfect meaty croquette-like snack. Everywhere serves them; also a must-try. You’ll find lots of great shops and concept stores in and around Albert Cuypstraat in De Pijp, plus cool coffee hangouts and restaurants and bars for later.”

If you can’t head away any time soon, at least we can point you in the direction of Dublin’s best cocktail.
