These are Indy Power’s top three vegan-friendly restaurants in Dublin

Today is World Vegan Day and to celebrate, we asked Indy Power for her top three vegan-friendly restaurants in Dublin to try now

With today being World Vegan Day, we thought it was the perfect time to do some vegan meal searching.

The restaurant landscape has most definitely improved when it comes to catering for vegans, but it can be hard to decipher where to go. And it’s particularly difficult going to a restaurant which isn’t exclusively vegan. For many, it can feel a little frustrating dining with non-vegans who will never know or understand the difficulties.

However, we are here to make that task a little easier for you.

Indy Power of the highly popular culinary website The Little Green Spoon was one of the first on the Irish scene to really champion a plant-based diet. She objected the false ideas which surrounded veganism. These ranged from people heralding it was a fad, or that it wasn’t varied or exciting enough, but Indy’s recipes are far from boring. On her website, you can find anything from pomegranate muffins to chocolate pecan tart – and each recipe is as delicious as the next.

As a food lover and an expert in all things vegan, we decided to ask Indy for her top three vegan-friendly restaurants in Dublin and what dishes we should order.

Shakshuka, Rathmines

Shakshuka in Rathmines provides rustic Palestinian and Middle Eastern food in a truly authentic setting. Described as an ‘eclectic’ restaurant, it is complete with décor based on a Bedouin tent merged with pieces from “one thousand and one nights.”

Rathmines is a bustling part of Dublin with an abundance of food choices, but this is one of the best and is perfect for vegans too.

Indy’s picks: Hummus, Baba Ghanoush, Falafel, Mujudarra…and the potatoes!

Jaipur, Dalkey

If you are looking for an Indian restaurant with a little bit of luxury, then the award-winning Jaipur should be your first choice. With branches in both Dalkey and Malahide, Jaipur is a treat for the senses. The restaurant offers all of the classic Indian dishes such as Tikka Masala and Rogan Josh but caters for vegan needs brilliantly.

Indy’s picks: Calcutta Baingan Bhaja, Aloo Tikki Chaat, Kaljoni Baingan and Rajasthani Bhindi

Soup, Dun Laoghaire

Soup Ramen is located on Lower Georges Street in Dun Laoghaire and serves ramen, kombucha, fermented food and cocktails. With an ambience that is both cool and casual, the restaurant is filled with neon, pastel colours and wood.

Soup has a varying selection of food for both lunch and dinner and caters for meat-eaters, vegetarians and vegans. And all of the dishes come at a great price too.

Indy’s picks: Vegan ramen, deep-fried kimchi, honey & habanero kombucha
