In some rather bleak celebrity land news, various tabloids are reporting that Idris Elba and make-up artist?Naiyana Garth have parted ways. The former couple have a 22-month-old child and shared a home in London. Elba has moved out and is living in a flat close by to be near his son, Winston.?The couple started dating in 2013, with Garth falling pregnant some months later.

It has been a busy few weeks for the Luther star who has picked up awards for his dramatic turn in Netflix movie Beasts of No Nation, including a Screen Actor Guild award. He also won for his long-running role in Luther at the same ceremony. Garth did not accompany Elba to the ceremony. The 43-year-old brought his 13-year-old daughter Isan, who was the only child he had with ex-wife Dormowa Sherman.

In a rather grim turn of events, the Daily Mail says the separation is the result of Elba spending a night out with Naomi Campbell. The two were seen partying at the 1 Oak?nightclub in New York a few days ago and left at the same time. Campbell tweeted a message of congratulations?to the actor following his SAG victory.

A source told The Sun Garth isn’t one for the limelight, hence the reason for the story not breaking sooner. (?They’ve kept it very quiet so she’s surprised people know already. It’s very sad that this has happened while Idris is experiencing the highest points of his professional career and they can’t celebrate it with each other.”)

While we know that what happens between a couple is completely private, we can’t help but feel a little bit sad about this one. We hope Garth and Elba are in a good place individually following the split and that the media respects both their privacy.
