Three dream houses to buy in Rathfarnham right now

Three dream houses to buy in Rathfarnham right now

Famous for its extensive public parks, Rathfarnham in south county Dublin is a beautiful place to raise a family. The suburb, which runs along the River Dodder to Marlay Park, is predominately made up of houses with big gardens; rather than compact apartment blocks.

There’s a mix of primary and secondary schools dotted throughout the area; a combination of same-sex and co-educational. As for amenities, the list is endless, with nearby Nutgrove Shopping Centre providing supermarkets, clothes shops, banks, a post office, hair salons, restaurants and more. If that’s not enough, Dundrum Town Centre can be reached within 10 minutes by car. Prefer to leave the car at home? Rathfarnham is also serviced by Dublin Bus routes 16 and 17. If this sounds like somewhere you’d like to live, have a look at these three houses available to buy right now.

24 Butterfield Avenue, €1,150,000

If bright, airy rooms are your style then this five-bedroom house at 24 Butterfield Avenue is for you. According to estate agent DNG, the house has been recently renovated to the highest standard by its current owners. The open-plan kitchen/dining space is the heart of the home; ideal for catching up with family over breakfast and dinner; or indeed, with friends at the weekend. From here, you can pass through to the fully-fitted utility room and then into the playroom/study. A large south-facing garden is located to the rear of the property, including grass area for children to play in and a patio area for al fresco dining.

Hershal, 180 Butterfield Avenue, €2,500,000

This Tudor-style family home has been beautifully maintained by its current owners. The five-bedroom property located at 180 Butterfield Drive also features a two-bedroom lodge for guests. No expense has been spared in the design of the home, with features including a walk-in wardrobe; Jacuzzi in the ensuite of the master bedroom; a games room; detached garage with double doors; and marble fireplaces throughout. While the current decor mightn’t be to everyone’s taste, the body of the home has enough character to warrant looking past that.

7 Crannagh Way, €785,000

This quaint bungalow at 7 Crannagh Way was built circa 1994. With five bedrooms and four bathrooms, it’s an ideal family home. The house features two decent-sized reception rooms; a sitting room to the front and dining room to the back; both of which are interconnected by double doors. The country-style kitchen is equipped with all mod-cons (including a gas-fired stove and double oven), while the fitted units offer ample storage. There are two patio areas; one to the rear of the property and another up a spiral staircase. What’s more, the front garden offers plenty of off-street parking.
