FSAI recalls four Miss Fit Skinny Tea products over ‘misleading labelling’

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland has placed an urgent recall on several batches of Miss Fit Skinny Tea and Coffee products.

Four products have been identified for the recall due to misleading health claims. They include:

  • Miss Fit Skinny Tea 14 Day Skinny Tea – pack size 35 g
  • Miss Fit Skinny Tea Max – pack size 35 g
  • Miss Fit Slimming Coffee 14 Day Fat Burning Instant Coffee – pack size 70 g
  • Miss Fit Skinny Coffee Max – pack size 70 g

In a statement made yesterday, the FSAI said, “All batches of the above four Miss Fit products are being recalled due to incorrect, misleading and ambiguous labelling.

“Amongst the labelling breaches are health claims which are not authorised and are therefore misleading to the consumer.”

Wholesalers have been asked to take the products off the market and shops have been ordered to remove the products from shelves and display point-of-sale notices to correctly inform customers.

In recent months, there has been a continued backlash surrounding these types of products which promise a ‘quick fix’ to weight loss.

Celebrities such as Jamila Jameel have been particularly outspoken about the harmful effects of advertising these products; in particular, the effect they have on impressionable young people.
