Fans are remembering Dolores O’Riordan at her best on her birthday

Today would have been the 47th birthday of Limerick singer-songwriter Dolores O’Riordan.

The Cranberries singer passed away in January of this year, after it was revealed today that she drowned due to alcohol intoxication.

An inquest into her death took place at London’s Westminster Coroner’s Court, and their results were finally released today, eight months after her death.

O’Riordan, who had been staying at the Park Lane Hilton Hotel in London, died as a result of a “tragic accident”, the coroner said, with no injuries or evidence of self-harm, according to expert witnesses.

In response to the announcement, O’Riordan’s bandmates issued a statement on behalf of the Cranberries:

On January 15th 2018 we lost our dear friend and bandmate Dolores O’Riordan.

“Today we continue to struggle to come to terms with what happened.

“Our heartfelt condolences go out to Dolores’ children and her family and our thoughts are with them today.

“Dolores will live on eternally in her music. To see how much of a positive impact she had on people’s lives has been a source of great comfort to us.

“We’d like to say thank you to all of our fans for the outpouring of messages and their continued support during this very difficult time.

“We request, please, for our privacy to be respected at this time.”

Fans of the singer took to social media to acknowledge the news, and pay tribute to O’Riordan on her birthday. Many spoke about how her music helped them through difficult times in their lives, and how her voice and talent is so sorely missed:
