With the news that Ireland has moved from Red to the Orange Zone under the EU traffic light travel system, it means that passengers may face fewer travel restrictions when travelling from Ireland. Alongside this, Covid-19 tests will be available for passengers in Dublin Airport from now. Here's all you need to know
Most of Europe is in the red zone when it comes to the EU traffic light travel system, where passengers must restrict their movements for 14 days. However, from midnight on 29th November, passengers from red regions coming into Ireland can move about freely if they receive a negative Covid-19 PCR test at least five days after arrival.
A region is classified as “Orange” if the 14-day incidence rate is lower than 50 cases per 100,000 but the testing positivity rate is 4 per cent or if the 14-day incidence rate is between 25 and 150 cases per 100,000 and the test positivity rate is below 4 per cent
The Government is still advising against all non-essential overseas travel, regardless of the colour applied to the State under the system.
The colour has no impact on the rules relating to travel into Ireland, only travel from Ireland.
Travellers arriving from Orange countries should face less stringent measures under the traffic-light system. However, the restrictions will differ from country to country as each can adopt their own rules for travellers coming into the country.

Passengers should carefully check the COVID-19 entry requirements for a particular country, state or region before travel, regardless of testing, Dublin Airport advises. "In some cases, entry requirements may apply to passengers transferring through an airport en route to another destination.
"It is the responsibility of the passenger to ensure that any test certificate issued from a COVID-19 testing facility sufficiently meets the local entry requirements of the destination country, state or region including any connecting airport requirements. Certain locations may require the test result to be translated into the local language at each location. Passengers should check local requirements and keep up to date as they evolve. "
