For many of us, the kitchen is the heart of the home. It’s where we start our day with a cup of coffee; where we catch up with family after a long day at work, and it’s where we relax with our friends over drinks on Saturday nights. Often, it’s the make-or-break room for house-hunters. If the kitchen’s not big enough, modern enough or bright enough; it’s not the one. That’s where we come in. We’ve trawled through lots of properties to find the perfect kitchen so you don’t have to. Here are three of our favourites:
20 Wainsfort Manor Drive, Terenure – €795,000
The kitchen at Wainsfort Manor Drive blends modern decor with country style beautifully. Located towards the end of a large entrance hall, the kitchen features solid wood units with a tiled backdrop; full quartz countertops with a centre island, and a Villeroy & Boch Belfast sink. There is ample seating room for family and guests, with a breakfast bar and dining area included too. The dining area was extended in 2017, and with a large skylight and glass doors, the space feels bright and airy. What's more, a secluded garden with raised flowerbeds is located to the rear of the house, while planning permission is in place for a proposed extension to the side.
2 Kincora Walk, Clontarf, Dublin 3 – €2,350,000
Okay, so it's a tad pricey... but it's worth it if you've recently come into some millions. The kitchen at 2 Kincora Walk is fully fitted with stylish Neff appliances, including a steam oven and a gourmet coffee maker. A pantry, utility room, cloakroom, and guest WC are all conveniently located off the kitchen (making it the dream spot for entertaining). Rear French doors open onto a granite patio, where a hardwood deck surrounded by evergreen trees can also be found. If you're the type of person who likes to combine indoor and al fresco dining; it doesn't get much better than this.
43 Deerpark Road, Castleknock – €1,650,00
If you prefer a more traditional-style kitchen than the two listed above, perhaps this four-bed home on Deerpark Road will tickle your fancy. Estate agents Sherry Fitzgerald describes the kitchen-come-breakfast room as "all encompassing" and "the heart of this home". It features solid wood units (all of which are hand-painted) from the Victorian Salvage & Joinery Co. It has granite countertops; a large island unit with a wooden countertop; a freestanding Cannon range-style cooker with dual electric ovens; a grill and six-ring gas hob; an integrated fridge freezer and dishwasher. Exiting through double glass doors, a sunny south-facing garden is expertly landscaped with a lawn, flowerbeds and a stone patio.
