A Donegal Escape, A Sligo School House & A Dublin Renovation In Image Interiors & Living

“All good work has magic in it, and addresses the mind in a subtle way.” – Duane Michals

In every issue of Image Interiors & Living we shine a spotlight on Irish talent, but in the January/February issue, we seem to have homegrown creative work in every corner. Take a peek inside the new issue…

The Houses

We headed to north Donegal to visit Niall Campbell and Cathrine Burke to uncover their B&B with a difference (above). With expansive views over Dunfanaghy Bay and a pared-back interior created with the help of local makers and producers, Breac House is a very Irish experience, albeit a modern one.

From there, we headed to Strandhill in Sligo to see a conversion of the village’s old school house into a bright and warm home. Designed for two surfers who wanted to be able to keep an eye on the surf from the comfort of their home, it’s a great example of building a home to suit a lifestyle.

And lastly, a Dublin project created by our Design Awards Interior Designer of the Year, GKMP. The undulating concrete ceilings of this unique restoration and extension is complemented by the building’s original charm and brought to life with zingy colours and plenty of natural light.

Storage Wars

Forget the January diet, now that all the Christmas decorations are down, who’s ready for a home cleanse? We chat with architects and designers to find out the best ways to streamline your space, using clever storage, from total overhauls to quick fixes.

A Superfolk piece in progress

There’s plenty of new designers, enticing new shops and exhibitions, and the most coveted pieces, and dreamy interiors destinations to get to this 2018. Get our guide on what to watch out for this year.

Ready for Rest

We’re not all willing participants of this whole “mindfulness” trend, but if that means yoga, gin, massages and country walks, we’re there. We present five Irish escapes to bring your mind out of that festive season haze.

Plus, a look into a magnificent weekend in the country, learning cooking and photography skills from some international talent at a Lens & Larder retreat to Glin Castle.
