The Devlin is about to become your new favourite spot in Dublin

Is there anything better than a new bar or hotel opening in Dublin's fair city? We love the thrill of the new. The unexpectedness of it all. And we could not be more excited about the opening of The Devlin in Ranelagh.

On Thursday, November 1, the Devlin Dublin (sister to The Dean Hotel) will officially open its doors. Not just a hotel, this new venture will also include a rooftop restaurant and terrace, a boutique cinema, a great coffee spot, and a cocktail bar.

Layla's Rooftop Restaurant, Bar and Terrace is surrounded by glass, giving you a clear shot view of Ranelagh village, the Dublin mountains, and the sea. Decorated in 1950's style, you can enjoy a midweek breakfast or a classic brunch, lunch, dinner or pizza all designed by Head Chef Paul Devoy. Layla's wine list has been created by The Devlin's sommelier Anke Hartmann, who said: "The wine list has been designed to really inspire our guests to be adventurous. There are different styles of wine - like the refreshing Yuzu Sake, which can be paired with fusion dishes. Or enjoy a Madeira as a digestif or with your cheese. Our list is concise, with wines on tap, classics, and wines for the more curious."

There is a total of 40 rooms in the hotel, and each is kitted out with Dyson hairdryer's, Nespresso machines, Marshall Amps, Smeg fridges, Netflix and special Devlin Munchie Boxes, which are jam-packed with iconic Irish snacks. The rooms are small in size but the hotel has made clever use of the space. The bedrooms come in four variations; ModPods, SuperPods (which are slightly bigger), BunkPods, and finally TriPods, which are the largest of the four and include a double, a single and a bunk.

In the hotel lobby, there is a dedicated DIME coffee hatch which is music to any coffee lovers ears. Design-orientated gifts from Industry & Co will also be on sale here. For the cocktail lovers, the Americana Bar will offer up an array of concoctions along with an all-day food menu.

The Stella Theatre, Ranelagh's little sister to The Stella Theatre in Rathmines, is a 42-seater cinema that can be found on the lower ground floor.  Just like its sister, the tiered cinema space has individual mid-century style armchairs and couches with cosy lamps and side tables beside each armchair, with a dedicated bar and food menu.
