Curious About Coding? This Event Looks Pretty Amazing

Coding is the language of the future apparently, not mandarin as every highfalutin features article would have had you believed two years ago. Children across the world are learning to code with tech superstar and cork native James Whelton’s social enterprise CoderDojo (Cool fact: Irish woman and former consultant Mary Moloney?is the current CEO. She spoke at one of our IMAGE Networking Breakfasts and is one hundred shades of capable and smart.) Model Karlie Kloss is passionate about getting girls to start coding in order to fix the gender gap in the industry. The model and NYU student has taken coding classes in recent years and offers a scholarship, Kode with Karlie, to teen girls interested in learning the skill. It’s a movement which is only going to grow in the next decade.

How can you get in on the act? Well, there are a lot of online courses. General Assembly is one place to start.?Or you could suss it all out in real life with Decoded, who are hosting an event, Code_in a Day, in The Marker Hotel next Monday, 19th October. Decoded recently campaigned to get coding on the UK’s national curriculum and they work with professionals daily on growing their tech skills base, offering code, data, cyber security and the internet of things lessons face-to-face and online.

Make some space in that diary, pop in during the lunch hour and learn to upskill. Further details here.
