Thousands of fans of music, movies, comedy and al fresco entertainment got their festival season off to a very fitting start over the June Bank Holiday weekend at Forbidden Fruit in Kilmainham, Co Dublin. The site exceeded all expectations, with a fairground, complete with adult-size carousel, four different stages, amazing artisan food sellers, and plenty of bars complete with wooden picnic furniture scattered around the city centre green space. The weather co-operated, with warm, sunny blue skies running from early dawn until dusk. With a line-up that, over the weekend, included Kasabian, Crystal Castles, Chic, and Primal Scream, there was also the option to keep partying long into Sunday night, as POD concerts arranged a series of free gigs and performances around Meeting House Square in Temple Bar for festivalgoers. It's the little bit extras that we love.
