The beauty look for Volume Five’s fashion story, Steel magnolia, pushed the boundaries regarding the anti-makeup look we love so much. This model had very little more on her skin? and doesn’t she just look so darned luminous?

Here’s what our hair and makeup team to make this magic happen?

MAKEUP
Jennifer Quinn for ana-lee.com

?I wanted to create a clean, warm bridal look, not overcomplicated, so it wouldn’t date – with a focus on good skin and a slightly flushed cheek – a nod to the modern day blushing bride. I like really natural make up so for me, less is always more. With most of the brides I have worked with, the main thing they want on the day is to look like themselves. So I just work on making them the most beautiful version. Good skin, not too much of anything else, just accentuating what is already there in subtle ways, finding the features that work best for you and going with that.?

Our model already had beautiful skin, so I decided to use Inglot’s AMC Illuminating Foundation. It’s really light and iridescent, so it creates a beautiful fresh look and sits really nicely on the skin.

Elizabeth Arden’s Eight hour cream is a classic I recommend to all my brides, for the lips. This needs to go on first thing, and the days before. Good lip prep is as important as good skin prep for your wedding day? no one wants to have their first kiss with dehydrated smackers.

The third product is MAC’s Blot powder. I used medium-dark here, but it comes in a range of colours, to suit your skin tone. Just use the puff provided or a large powder brush and dust over your problem shine areas throughout the day.

HAIR

Zara Cox for ZaraCox@29, 2nd floor, 29 Wicklow St, Dublin 2, 01 548 3404

?This is a soft, dusty look with an underplayed feel that brings softness to the dressed-up vibe of a bridal outfit.?

Sebastian Drynamic is an excellent dry shampoo, used here to downplay gloss and ramp up texture.

Sebastian Shaper Fierce keeps the undoneness in place, once you’ve perfected the imperfection.

I lifted the roots, using Label.M Resurrection Style Dust, which adds volume without too much bounce.
