An Post to allow free postage to and from nursing homes from today

It comes as part of An Post’s Community Focus initiative

An Post will from today allow free postage of letters and packages to and from nursing homes.

It comes ahead of an expected tightening of Covid-19 restrictions around the country due to be announced today.

Any letter or packet weighing up to 2kg can be delivered by An Post to or from a nursing home for free – senders are simply asked to write ‘Freepost’ in capital letters on their envelope where they would normally put a stamp.

The initiative is part of An Post’s Community Focus plan, which has been extended into 2021. The plan also includes other community outreach initiatives, like check-ins for elderly and vulnerable people, a free mail collection service for the elderly, and discounted parcel delivery for SME’s.

On their website, An Post describes their Community Focus plan as a way to encourage “compassion, staying connected and sending love to each other” during the Covid-19 pandemic.
