An Oasis of Comfort in Central London

An Oasis of Comfort in Central London

So you’re headed to London on a serious shopping trip? You want to be as close to Oxford Street as possible (the shops, the SHOPS!) but the thoughts of the hustle and bustle of that street, complete with swarming crowds, is enough to give you a fever. You also want to be within walking distance of Soho, Covent Garden, Picadilly Circus and more. If only there was a luxury, tranquil, top-notch city escape that catered to your every need without the madness that often comes with central London.

Oh but there is, you see. The Marylebone Hotel, tucked away in the peaceful, pretty neighbourhood of the same name. As part of the highly revered Doyle Collection (with hotels in five cities across Ireland, the UK and US), this rejuvenating haven is the perfect antidote to your full throttle London trip. This writer had the distinct pleasure of staying there on a recent flying visit and was all but peeled off the Egyptian cotton sheets when it was eventually time to go home.

The location of this hotel is especially wonderful for newcomers to London; you’re right in the thick of it and no tourist attraction is too far to get to from this central point. Whether you’re shopping or sight-seeing, you couldn’t ask for a better spot. On top of that, the hotel itself is a treat for all the senses. Decorated with a modern, classic finish, offering only the highest of standards, you’d quite happily spend an afternoon enjoying the atmosphere alone. And as for the hotel breakfast (the barometer on which we measure all of our hotel stays), let’s just say your tea and toast just won’t cut the mustard from here on out. Their bespoke juice bar is a particular joy.

The rooms themselves are a comfort creature’s heaven. The beds? The best we’ve ever slept in.

For those who can’t be without their gym routines, you’ll find a fully equipped gym complete with a pool and a sauna in the hotel’s basement. And there’s a spa too, did we forget to mention the spa? Relieve your limbs after a day’s shopping with a rejuvenating treatment.

Finally, the staff. If there’s one thing that will make or break your experience of a hotel, it’s how well you’re looked after. The staff at The Marleybone hotel are highly commendable; friendly, accommodating and as eager as you that you enjoy your stay. From the turn down service, complete with Butlers chocolates, to the genuinely charming doormen, you’ll be a long time trying to find something here to critique.

Other Doyle Collection hotels include The Kensington, The Bloomsbury and The Bristol in London, while in Ireland you have The Westbury and The Croke Park Hotel in Dublin, with The River Lee Hotel in Cork. For those headed to DC in America, you have The Dupont Circle Hotel.
