While this weekend’s BAFTAs and The Grammys have demanded most of our attention, there were other, arguably slicker affairs going on around the world. The 65th Berlin Film Festival, to name but one, and it’s been chockers full of familiar faces.

Most notably, being Irish, we’re extremely proud of Moe Dunford who received a highly coveted Shooting Star award from none other than Natalie Portman, following his stellar performance in St Patrick’s Day in which he stars as someone suffering with schizophrenia. If you haven’t yet seen it, consider it a must this week. We’ve yet to come across a movie that so accurately depicts the reality of mental health as much as this.

“I am immensely honoured to receive such a prestigious award.? I am very passionate about and proud of?Patrick’s Day which I know has played no small part in winning me this accolade.? I have been blown away by the positive response the film has been getting and how it’s really resonating with audiences.? I want to especially thank Terry McMahon, the writer and director of the film, for taking a chance on me as a young actor and giving me one of the most rewarding acting experiences of my life,” said Moe.

Dunford joined rank with UK winner Maisie Williams, who you’ll recall from the award-winning Game of Thrones. The pair are in good company, as previous winners of the prize include Daniel Craig, Carey Mulligan, and Domhnall Gleeson.

Eleshwere, Berlin continues to welcome a whole host of stars to celebrate various movie premieres across the festival duration (5th-15th of February), including Robert Pattinson, Ryan Reynolds, Nicole Kidman and lots more.
