6 ice cream shops open in Dublin right now

As we enjoy the rarity of this much-loved sunny spell, a melty ice cream cone is the cherry on top. Treat yourself at one of these six ice cream shops this week.

Takeaway ice cream cones have been one of the few treats we can indulge in during lockdown.

And, hopefully, the current sundaze we’ve slunked into this bank holiday weekend will continue for a whole glorious summer.

Here are six shops selling ice cream in Dublin right now, so you can cool down with a tasty 99 or a cone of rich, chocolatey gelato.

Bread 41

Known for its unbeatable baked goods, Bread 41 has blessed Dubliners with their newest menu item: a soft serve cruffin (croissant and muffin). Weekly flavours are available and, depending on the weather, a limited number of cruffin cones go on sale at their Pearse Street location Monday to Saturday, from 12pm to 2pm.

Sun Bear Gelato

Homemade, fresh italian gelatos with irish milk? Yes, please! On Dawson Street, Sun Bear Gelato is still open for takeaway cones and cups. They are also making milkshakes too! Just be sure to call in your order beforehand to adhere to their call and collect guidelines.

Gino’s Gelato

Towers of creamy pistachio, kinder bueno, mango sorbet and more greet sweet-toothed customers at the door. Gelato (tubs, cups or cones), crepes, waffles and coffee are currently available for takeaway at locations in Howth, Bray, Waterford, Grafton St, Georges St, Henry Street, The Square Tallaght and Blanchardstown Shopping Centre.

Hole in the Wall

Down in Dublin 7, at the northeastern edge of the Phoenix Park, the famous Hole in the Wall pub has reopened for iced coffee, t-shirts, take away pints and cocktails and now, Mauds Ice Cream. It’s the perfect spot to grab a cone for a walk in the park.

Scrumdiddly’s

Scrumdiddly’s in Donabate and Dun Laoghaire are officially opened for click and collect. Just visit their website, choose your own flavours and delicious toppings and check out. Try not to get too overwhelmed though; there are over 2,400 combinations to choose from.

Teddy’s Ice Cream

This weekend, grab a creamy 99 before you take a stroll down Dun Laoghaire pier. Teddy’s shops and vans are open in Bray and various locations in Dun Laoghaire – you won’t be disappointed!
