Husband and wife printmaker team Jando want to connect the country at this difficult time, and so have launched their #LoveWhereYouLive campaign to celebrate the great places we may not be able to visit right now
Known for their colourful prints of iconic Irish landmarks, Jando is a printmaking studio made up of husband and wife team Julie and Owen Mc Loughlin. Their work is designed and printed in-house, and features much-loved locations such as the Poolbeg Chimneys, the Cliffs of Moher and Cobh cathedral.
Julie explains that during lockdown and walking within their 2km radius, the couple realised how lucky they were to have so many iconic buildings and scenery on their doorstep. They also realised, however, that not everyone was so lucky, and so wanted to do something to celebrate people's favourite locations in Ireland, whether or not they can visit them right now.
As a result, they have launched their #Lovewhereyoulive campaign, asking people to nominate their favourite place to visit, and the winner will receive a custom Jando print of their location. The couple are still trading via their website at the moment, and have been appreciative of the support their customers have shown them.
"We’ve been overwhelmed by the messages of support from our customers, all of whom want to play a part in supporting local," Julie says. "Like any small Irish business, this has been a very challenging time for us and we’ve done all we can to stay nimble.
"'Love Where you Live' is a token of our gratitude to these incredible patrons but also, I must admit, a wonderful impetus for us to continue to create and grow our portfolio. The campaign is aiming to deliver what we all need right now – a little light and a little hope."
