This quaint, cedar-clad house in Wicklow is on the market for €1,495,000

This quaint, cedar-clad house in Wicklow is on the market for €1,495,000

Up a private, tree-lined drive, this gorgeous four-bedroom home for sale in Wicklow is located just outside the town of Ashford.

Surprisingly bright thanks to the large windows, this home in Wicklow is tucked amongst 3.5 acres of mature gardens. Just a short drive from the village of Ashford and on the market for €1.495 million, the entrance to Courtfoyle is marked by an electric gate.

Incredibly secluded and quiet, the house looks down to the coastline and boasts some spectacular views of the Irish Sea. The four-bedroom, four-bathroom house is clapped in cedarwood and is brimming with period features, including high ceilings, original timber floorboards, wood panelling and open fireplaces.

The main entrance hall is spacious enough to also double as a dining room, with an open fire and exposed timber beams. Through French doors is the living room, a large room with a number of tucked-away alcoves for snug evenings by the fire.

From here, you can walk out to the east-facing deck, which overlooks the gardens and the sea. Also off the main entrance hall is a ground-floor ensuite master bedroom and office, both overlooking the beautiful view, and another bathroom.

Through another set of double doors from the living room is the sunroom, with a 100-year-old vine growing up through the bright, sunny space. Seats with a view abound here and you can access both the east- and west-facing decks from this room. Nearby is the cosy library with book-lined walls, perfect for when the sunroom gets a little chilly in the winter.

The kitchen has been recently redesigned by Danish Kitchen Design and includes a number of high-end Gaggenau appliances, such as a steam oven and indoor barbecue. There’s room for a more casual dining space here too, with a utility located just off the kitchen.

Upstairs are three further bedrooms and a playroom. The bedrooms all have bay windows overlooking the view, one has an ensuite and there are also two further bathrooms on this floor.

The house had once belonged to a gardener at Mount Usher, so the exterior is understandably lush. Set on a steep slope with steps running down to the trees, the house looks like it belongs to a breezy beachfront in New England.
