This adorable Portobello house with large extension is on the market for €1.1 million

When it comes to curb appeal, you can’t get much cuter than the pink door of this house for sale in Portobello. Plus, it comes with a kitchen extension and three bedrooms.

Near the canal in Dublin 8 is this sweet terrace home on Longwood Avenue. On the market for €1,100,000, its brick facade hides a surprising 146 square metres of space. To the rear, there’s also a large and private back garden.

Split across two levels, off the main hallway is a large drawing room to the front, which has a commanding open stone fireplace. Part of the original layout of the house, this room has a number of period features including delicate wall and ceiling cornicing.

Still within the original home, there is a dining room and study to the rear, which share a chimney flue. A stove is surrounded by a handsome brick fireplace in the dining room and there’s a smaller fireplace in the study, set up by the current owners as a piano room with built-in storage.

A large extension has been added to the rear of the house in recent years, including a large kitchen/breakfast room, sunroom and guest bathroom. The vaulted timber ceiling of the extension sets it apart from the period feel of the house. It is flooded with light thanks to floor-to-ceiling windows, skylights and glass doors that open onto the decked patio area and south-easterly facing garden.

Upstairs are three spacious bedrooms, all doubles, with a family bathroom that has also been updated. The master suite looks onto the street and has its own fireplace. The other two bedrooms look onto the garden, where mature trees and shrubbery make it feel surprisingly secluded, considering its location in the heart of Portobello.
