Ercol and 2LG celebrate Pride with a limited edition love seat

Heritage furniture brand Ercol have teamed up with London-based design duo, 2LG Studio, for a unique project.

Ercol is one of the UK’s most beloved furniture brands. Producing pieces such as the iconic Windsor Chair, Butterfly Chair and Quaker dining set, the family-led company has been setting the standard for timber furniture design for nearly a century. In celebration of Pride Month 2019, they have collaborated with Jordan Cluroe and Russell Whitehead of 2LG Studio in London to give their Love Seat a colourful revamp.

Considered a progression from the original Windsor Chair, the Love Seat is a curved elm bench for two the Ercol's signature tapered legs.

Known for their fun use of bright and zingy colour, the pair at 2LG Studio seemed like the perfect choice for the project. Focusing on Ercol’s Love Seat, the project is entitled A Love Seat full of Pride, they have produced four first editions to be auctioned off, each one with a unique colour pattern of the 2LG Studio-designed colour palette.

“We wanted to make this piece for Pride, as equality is so important to us, and so we took the base idea of the rainbow and gave it our own contemporary take, pastels and electric blue and neon yellow,” the duo explains. Each piece has been hand-sprayed in the 7-palette rainbow of hues in the Ercol factory by their master sprayer.

All of the colours are then carefully blended together where they meet to complete the multi-coloured rainbow effect. “Our inspiration was from the pride parade itself, as if the loveseat had been to the party and come back covered in the bold colours of Pride itself.”

The collaboration nestles nicely into 2LG Studio's signature colour palette.

One of the pieces will be on display at Pride London, while they intend to auction off another first on Instagram and they’re hoping to produce a limited run of the piece later this year so keep your eyes peeled to snap up one of these beauties.
