Feast for the Eyes

Avoca, Suffolk Street

See More Photos

Do you eat with your eyes? I certainly do, but it’s not just about the food?? great d?cor can totally enhance any dining experience. Here are my top five places to chow down in Dublin.

Avoca Caf?, 13 Suffolk Street, Dublin 2

Located on the top floor of the beautiful Avoca store, this caf? is the perfect place for a fab brunch or lunch. From a hearty Irish breakfast to some sweet pancakes with mixed berry compote the menu is full of delicious options. And I’m totally in love with the shabby chic d?cor, the vintage furniture and the pretty lampshades.

The Fumbally, Fumbally Lane, Dublin 8

This cool caf? is not only a stunning venue but also serves scrummy inexpensive food, including soups, sandwiches and salads. I always admire the colourful veg display and love sitting at one of their wooden communal tables. It’s a great place to meet a group of friends over their divine porcetta sandwich or avocado on toast on a Saturday morning, enjoying the stylish boho-chic surroundings.

House, 27 Lower Leeson Street, Dublin

One of the newest and most stylish venues in Dublin, House is set in two renovated Georgian houses. Relax in their wine room, have afternoon tea at the terrace or a lunch in the glass room. Or if you’re lucky enough to visit on a sunny day, you can enjoy their beautiful garden. Feeling peckish, but don’t want the full monty then House also has a large choice of tapas style nibbles on their dinner menu.

Marker Hotel, Grand Canal Square, Dublin 2

If you’re craving a cronut, want to quaff a cocktail on top of one of Dublin’s best rooftops or simply enjoy a meal in gorgeous surroundings, pay a visit to The Marker Hotel. This luxurious five star hotel with a sleek contemporary design is sure to please your eyes as well as your taste buds.

Trocadero, 4 St Andrew’s St, Dublin 2

The Trocadero is a Dublin institution and the ideal spot for a romantic dinner or a pre-theatre meal. I love the atmosopheric dining room with its lovely art deco touches and comfy velvet banquette seating. You feel like you’re eating in the setting of a movie, which adds a very special touch to your dining experience.
