3 homes for sale in Co Mayo under €100,000: no renovation needed

Mayo’s beautiful scenery and rugged coastline make it a gorgeous place to live, so if you’re tempted, here are three houses that could help you make a new start on the smallest of budgets.

As it seems the whole of Ireland is heading off on a staycation this summer, many of us will no doubt be reminded of how beautiful the west is. Mayo is a favourite of many, and you could explore its landscape for weeks and still find new sights.

If, however, you’re considering a more permanent move to Co Mayo, we’ve found three homes that are on the market for under €100,000. They would all benefit from a little modernisation, but could be moved into straightaway, allowing you to update them over time as your budget permitted.

Srah Upper, Carracastle, €99,000

homes in Co Mayo

This two-bed bungalow is in good condition throughout, and any changes needed would be purely aesthetic. The living room has an open fireplace and the bathroom features underfloor heating. The property comes with over 3 acres of land, which includes an orchard and a number of stone outbuildings and agricultural sheds.

The house is close to Tubbercurry, Charlestown and Ballaghaderreen, while Ireland West Airport is less than a 20 minute drive away.

‘The Chalet’, Dugort, Achill, €99,000

If you’re tempted by the mountains and stunning beaches of Achill, then this property provides the chance to make the island your  home. An end-of terrace house, it has three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The interior is basic but in good condition, although a new owner might choose to update it.

Located just a 10-minute walk from Dugort beach, this home would be ideal for someone looking to escape to the sea, while the mountains overlooking the bay provide plenty of opportunities for walks and hikes.

Derreens, Ross, Castlebar, €95,000

This refurbished stone cottage would make a beautiful rural home. With just one bedroom, it’s perfect for a single person or couple. Inside, the plastered stone walls have been left exposed in places, giving a wonderful character, while the living area has a generous vaulted ceiling with exposed beams.

The kitchen features pine units, while a loft over this space provides an additional sleeping area, should you wish to have guests stay. Located close to Foxford, Castlebar, and Westport, this house has plenty of amenities nearby despite its seemingly remote surroundings.
