3 fixer-uppers in West Cork for under €100,000

If you want to put your own stamp on a home, then one of these West Cork properties could be right up your street.

It’s a favourite spot for Irish holidaymakers thanks to its long stretch of coast and stunning landscape, but these reasons also make West Cork a great place to live.

The area’s popularity for holiday homes means that property there isn’t as cheap as in some other rural parts of the country, but there are nonetheless bargains to be had if you’re willing to take on a bit of a project.

We’ve found three homes that come in under €100,000 that would make excellent homes with a bit of work.

Gallows Hill, Leap,€99,000

Situated just outside Leap, close to favourite West Cork spots Skibbereen, Glandore and Rosscarbery, this two-bed cottage sits on a 0.75 acre elevated plot, with beautiful views of the surrounding countryside.

Some basic renovation work has already been completed, but it still has exposed plasterboard and concrete floors. However, the house does not appear to need any significant work, so once finishes are added it should be quick to move into.

1 Castle Road, Bandon, €90,000

Bandon is a popular location as it’s just half an hour from Cork city, yet is known as the gateway to West Cork. This semi-detached family home has three bedrooms and an extensive garden to the rear and side of the property.

It’s in need of a full renovation, but still represents good value for a house of this size in this location, and gives potential buyers the chance to put their own stamp on the home.

The Farmhouse, Kilscona, Drimoleague, €100,000

Cork homes under €100,000

Just over 12 kilometres from Skibbereen and 18 kilometres from Bantry, this old farmhouse has huge potential to make a wonderful family home. The house has three bedrooms, and is set on a 0.75 acre plot.

It’s in need of extensive renovation, but a series of outbuildings adjacent to the house provide the opportunity to add additional living space, or a separate office or studio space, which could transform it into a spectacular home.
