I’m in love with the house in Netflix’s Anne with an E

I’m in love with the house in Netflix’s Anne with an E

There’s something about the scrubbed timber, white-washed walls and simple beauty of the Anne with an E interiors that has us wanting to imitate it.

I have fictional house envy.

I have fallen in love with the home of a spinster and her bachelor brother, a house dating back to the late 19th century. My daughter and I started watching the Netflix show Anne with an E recently (a reboot of the iconic Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery).

Apart from the endearing story, adoring Anne’s love of life, and the stunning photography and gorgeous landscape, the interiors of Green Gables really got my attention.

I love the simplicity of the farmhouse, a sense of character without clutter. The muted palette both blends in and offers the space a sweet personality and the solid wood furniture appears worn with age in the best possible way.

Here’s how you can replicate it:

1 J110 Chair in grey, €295, Industry

J110 is an updated version of a classic chair, available in a selection of muted colours, including dusty grey, a beige-grey and a stone grey. Which is apt, considering so much of Green Gables is a made up of a plethora of grey hues.

2 Oak Peg Rails, around €33, Cox & Cox

Carefully crafted from sustainable oak, the peg rail is both beautiful and functional.

3 Iona Large Dining Table in Solid Pine, around €665, Made.com

This table is thick and robust, crafted with solid fir wood. Bringing family and friends together, this table will have stories to tell in years to come.

4 Dutchbone Core pendant lamp, €99, Woo. Design

The pendant light, powder coated with a brass lamp socket is contemporary and timeless.

5 Standing dustpan and brush, €83, The Blue Door

Housework will be less tedious with this beautifully crafted timber brush and dustpan.

6 Brocklesby Side Table, around €505, The White Company

The side table is made from ash wood and treated with a white-wax finish that exposes the beautiful grain. It is also marked with the date and location from which the timber was sourced.

7 Farrow and Ball Lamp Room Grey 88, from €60 for 2.5 litres

The traditional blue-grey is ageless and calming.

8 Irish Linen Napkin, €88, for a set of 6, 31 Chapel Lane

Crumpled linen is timeless and durable and will last for years to come.
