The Institute of Designers in Ireland (IDI) Design Awards are nearly upon us, with the shortlist exhibition opening tomorrow at the new DIT in Grangegorman. We felt it only right to share our favourites from the finalists before the awards take place next Thursday, November 20, at the Marker Hotel? just so you’re prepared for the awesomeness that awaits.

1. Chapter One: An Irish Food Story, Graham Thew Design.
The famous restaurant celebrates 21 years with a cookbook, beautifully designed and illustrated by Graham Thew.

2. Carver chair, D?anta.
Strong and light, this beautifully simple chair was made using the traditional boat-building techniques of the West of Ireland.

3. Extension and interior design of house in Sandymount, Optimise Design.
A project that involved the complete refurbishment, extension and interior design of a five-bedroom house in Dublin’s Sandymount.

4. Nob? packaging, Nolo Design.
Distinctive colourful packaging for delicious dairy-free Irish ice cream.

5. Lolly and Cooks, Grand Canal Dock, Moda Architects.

One-off and limited-edition bags upcycled from sails.

A timeless tumbler made in collaboration with the Irish Handmade Glass Company.

Accessory for addictive precision cutting at home.

9. Thirty(ish), Design Factory.
Design Factory celebrates 30 years, more or less, with a beautiful publication.

10. Gazel hanger, Gazel Design Ltd.
This clothes hanger’s clever design tilts on the rail to tell you it’s free and balances perfectly with clothes on it.
