Celebrity tattoo artist Saira Hujan is collaborating with Tod’s to create limited edition bags from the Tod’s Double T collection, the iconic mark of Autumn Winter 2016-17, in a TATTOO version.
Saira Hujan came to prominence in a career as a tattooist while studying fine art. The five beautiful bags each bear a lion-headed serpent, and Tod’s iconic Double T clasp.
Saira’s work is highly influenced by her Indian heritage and trips to the country, and her trademark is goddesses, mythical beasts, images of nature, tribal patterns and gypsies.
Speaking to RED Magazine about her process creating the bags, Saira said, ?You’d think it would be straightforward, since leather is just another type of skin, but it took a lot of trial and error. It took two days for me to tattoo each piece of leather, which then had to be hand-sewn together, which took another day. I loved that, the slow craftsmanship of it all.?
A wallet and two more bags will be available in store from December, or are available for preorder online.
