The rise and rise of Mango: Five exceptional pieces from our new high-street favourite

When did Mango get so good? Zara was once my high-street go-to, but now that I see more and more women sporting Zara’s distinctive prints I’ve found I’m turning to Mango for my affordable fashion fix, and I really like what I see. It’s not just the clothes that have attracted me, it’s the quality of styling on the website too. Everything is pieced together with originality and flair, and the models have the kind of cool girl (but not cold) attitude we’d all like to emulate. Here are five standout pieces from the website I’m adding straight to my wish list.

The stores are flooded with animal print at the moment, predictable leopard and zebra in neutral tones. But a red snakeskin print dress? What a great way to reimagine this season’s most popular print. This piece feels totally fresh, and at first glance doesn’t scream animal print. I love how the sexy snakeskin print is balanced by the girlish frill and demure neckline. This is a really original way to wear animal print.

Snakeskin print dress, €69.99

This jumpsuit is as chic as anything I’ve seen and looks a lot more expensive than it is. It’s a real desk-to-dinner piece and will offer you so much value in the years to come.

Bow detail jumpsuit, €59.99

A jacket-cum-coat is exactly what I’m looking for right now. I don’t always want to wear a full-on, midi-length overcoat, especially if I’m running around town on any given day. I love the masculine cut and minimalist detailing of this piece, plus, the flecked pattern will add texture and interest to any outfit.

Flecked textured coat, €79.99

This turtleneck sweater may not look like an exceptional piece, but with its three-quarter-length tunic style, it’s the key to creating so many unique looks. Play with the proportions of your outfit by pairing this sweater with a pair of cropped trousers. It will also look chic, and elongate your body, when worn over a slim-fitting midi skirt. It looks beautifully sophisticated belted, with something you have in your wardrobe already or with one of this season’s cool belt bags.

Turtleneck sweater, €35.99

You may have read that brown is the new black this season, but actually corduroy is. If you buy one thing for autumn, make it corduroy. This stunning co-ord set is sophisticated but super cool too. The gorgeous shade of pink has depth and warmth to it so it doesn’t look too girlish, while the masculine tailoring gives the look strength and modernity.

Corduroy trousers, €59.99
