The Irish Designers Flying The Flags At London Fashion Week

Right now there are gaggles of dedicated editors, buyers, journalists, photographers and bloggers all packing their show-stopper outfits ahead of London Fashion Week, which kicks off tomorrow. The bi-annual event in the heart of one of the fashion capitals of the world is the largest event on its international fashion calendar. Among the drones of international and British designers showcasing over the week-long event, a number of Irish designers will also be in attendance; flying the flag high for Irish designers and creative industries. Here are some of the shows we're looking forward to.

Simone Rocha

Perhaps one of the most influential and internationally recognised of all Irish designers (not forgetting Orla Kiely who recently showed at NYFW, and Natalie B Coleman to name a few), and has worked hard to build a brand which is innovative, recognisable, and totally lust-worthy. Simone opened her?first shop in London last August on Mount Street which features a collection of her bespoke perspex furniture and sculptures. Rocha has really come into her own as a young independent designer whose sugary - yet appropriately sultry - creations gather reputable attention. We expect that her SS17 collection will mimic previous motifs and will include soft hues, tulle, embellishment, and a graceful air of femininity. This is Simone Rocha's 6th year showing at LFW.

Danielle Romeril

A recent graduate of the Limerick School of Art and Design, Danielle Romeril is a contemporary knitwear designer who uses mills in Ireland, Japan, Italy and the UK to produce her vibrantly modern and contemporary designs. Describing her pieces as 'relaxed contemporary design?, her wares always embrace a feministic aspect juxtaposed with 'something street or utilitarian?. Danielle has recently become part of the NEWGEN panel - which is an internationally recognised talent identification scheme by created by the British Fashion Council - and will present her sixth season at the NEWGEN showcase this week. Romeril's collections balance delicately between bespoke and ready-to-wear, but nonetheless possess innate beauty and craftsmanship.

JW Anderson

Northern-Ireland boy JW Anderson has come a long way since his debut collections for Topshop pre-2010?and has since gone on to receive critical acclamation from some of the most powerful names in the fashion industry. Anderson's modern aesthetic offers a unique approach to his minimalistic collections; jolting the balance between masculinity and femininity and offering a fresh approach to androgynous?fashion.?This is Andersons 9th year showing at LFW and we're excited to see him grow further.

Sharon Wauchob

After studying at the prestigious Central Saint Martins in London, Sharon Wauchob quickly established herself as a dominant force within the industry after moving to Paris to gain invaluable experience under textiles proficient?Koji Tatsuno. Large, slouchy silhouettes with Parisian influence are staple factors of her ready-to-wear garments, and this week will be?Wauchob's first showing at LFW after ten-year-stint producing her collections in Paris.

Zoe Jordan

Born in Dublin but adopted by Britain, Zoe Jordan is relatively new to the international fashion world but has worked hard on the development of her brand and collections. Her AW16 'Off Road' collection was utilitarian in feel and drew inspiration from wildlife documentaries and Safari getaways which comprised of tunics and pants in ombre tones similar to that of an African twilight sky. We're excited to see what Jordan has next in store.
