The Eighties Shoe Trend That’s Making A Comeback

The Eighties Shoe Trend That’s Making A Comeback

Treading hard on the heels of the current white shoe trend is a penchant for pastels. An Eighties shoe trend favoured by everyone from Blondie to Kylie, they’re back in force as every fashion week front row as stylists and editors go mad for soft tones and blush hues. Here are six of the best pairs of pastel shoes in store now.

Victoria Beckham kicked it all off when she wore her lilac “Dorothy” pumps at the close of her SS18 show last year. Now pastel coloured pumps are popping up on every street style star and in every high street store. This pair from online retailer Uterque.com come in traditional stiletto shape and a shade of purple that isn’t too wishy washy.

The ankle strap is firmly back for SS18 and was seen on catwalks from Elie Saab to Emporio Armani. The circle buckles on these open-toed sandals adds a nice point of difference and toughens up the pastel shade just a little.

The colour purple has taken fashion by storm since Pantone announced it as the colour of the year. These pretty suede mules look fir for a princess, but to avoid looking too girlish, pair them with some smart tailoring.

I love the dusty shade of these pink suede sliders. Perfect worn with skirts or denims, they’ll upgrade your spring weekend wear instantly.

Ticking two trend boxes in one, these pastel hued sock boots (the shape that every fashion savvy woman is wearing right now) are pretty but practical and offer a terrific solution to those tricky transitional months of April and March, as they’re cosy but look fresh and spring-like.

Blush fabric ankle boots, €79.95 (reduced from €99.95) at Massimo Dutti

These Topshop ballerina flats are my favourite pair so far. They’re understated and effortlessly chic, plus they have a pointed toe, which we will see coming through strongly in the AW18 collections later this year.
