Let’s talk about your tie-dye styling approach. Think more ‘chic’ than ‘Coachella’.

Tie-dye, like feathers, is a type of fashion statement that can err on the side of costume if done too literally. However, like it or loathe it, the trippy print is back in abundance (along with its nu-rave hippie counterparts such as bucket hats, chunky sandals and pukka necklaces, might we add).

It notably featured, in all its retro glory, at Prada, Stella McCartney and R13. There were no homemade splattered white tees or seemingly DIY fashion projects to be seen though. This time around, the vibe is more elevated.

How to wear tie-dye

Slinky slips and tie-dye jeans seem to be the flavours of the month (judging by Instagram at least), and brands such as Ganni and Proenza Schouler are making it easier than ever to get in on the action.

While tie-dye is definitely one of the louder fashion trends to try your hand at, there’s nothing like a simple white t-shirt or white blazer to tone down the look.
