Smart Christmas Day Rigouts For People Who Are Always Cold

Smart Christmas Day Rigouts For People Who Are Always Cold

If like me your blood runs cold, then you’ll understand the natural instinct to find and cling to the nearest source of heat (be it human, animal, or inanimate object). I applaud the lady who manages to stride calmly into the party; fur stole in hand, a killer mini skirt and boot combination, and shirt perfectly pressed. Meanwhile, I come thundering through with two jackets, a hat (which has just ruined my boho-blowdry), denier 50 tights – and a spare in the bag in case of emergencies, and a woolly jumper. Can you relate?

Thankfully though, there is more to festive dressing than short hemlines and barely-there material (case in point: luxurious and tasteful Christmas jumpers worth investing in). This year I’m taking a stand against the cold and choosing outfits that won’t leave me shivering.  Scroll down for my favourite festive picks, all under €60.

This elegant floral motif jumpsuit, €59.95 at Mango

With beautiful flowy fabric and a satin finish, this deep green jumpsuit from Mango, below, is a perfect choice for those who hate bare arms or legs. The V-neck is very flattering and the thick band at the waist will give the illusion of a longer silhouette. This is a really great piece to have coming into Spring, too.

This warm and cosy jumper dress by Mela London, €45 at Debenhams

Designed with an oversized fit, this knitted jumper dress is a winning choice for the woman who craves comfort on Christmas day. This deep burgundy dress by Mela London at Debenhams, below, features a rolled neckline and cable knit sleeves. Style yours with a pair of heeled boots and leather trousers to complete the look.

This embroidered satin jumpsuit, €59.95 at Zara

Swinging again toward a jumpsuit, this is another really great choice from Zara. Featuring a lapel collar, long sleeves, V-neck and contrasting piped seams detailing, this is a great dinner party piece. The back embroidery (see featured image, above) ads an additional element of luxury to this piece while the satin material remains comfortable and wearable.

These comfortable and stretchy black stirrup leggings, €37 at River Island

Can you remember your first per of stirrup leggings? I love this pair from River Island. Made with scuba-type material, these leggings are thick and warm, and the foot strap is thin enough to wear with elegant strappy sandals if you wish to do so. I love the idea of teaming these with an oversized blazer. Alternatively, these would make a great additonallly layer under the burgundy jumper dress, above.

This midi check button skirt, €52 at Topshop

Tap into a vintage-inspired look and keep your pins warm with this cute burgundy check midi-skirt with tie detailing and a button-through front. Style yours with a loose-fitting, tucked-in knit and on-trend ankle boots for a super chic look.
