Primary Colours Are The New Millennial Pink And These Are Our Hero Products

Primary Colours Are The New Millennial Pink And These Are Our Hero Products

Last year it was all about a very particular shade of pink. We were infatuated with it so much so that it sparked the opening of a dream-like candy-coloured museum in LA. Despite Pantone’s purple predictions, we’re betting this year will be based firmly on the primary colour wheel.

I love this blue and red colour block. This shade of blue close to the face is very flattering on pale skin tones. Also, there’s a youthful synergy between these two colours that reminds us of collegiate style. The oversized style from Monki, below, is a really comfortable find for all seasons. The weather is still very chilly so we’re not quite ready to move away from our winter knits, but the extra-long hemline brings a versatility to this piece. Pair yours with thick tights and cool trainers.

Indulge in your masculine, tailored side with a pair of classic and chic cigarette pants from Topshop. They’re yellow without being-in-your-face yellow and will look the part with a seventies-style blouse. Or, go casual with a T-shirt tucked in.

In keeping with the cosy theme, this big bright green knit scarf from The Frankie Shop is the perfect solution to cosy January dressing. Accessorizing is a great way to add bright pops of primary colour to your wardrobe without going full-on colour wheel.

Dress up in this bright red, silk camisole from Uterque.com, below. It’s a vibrant piece that will help curb the January blues. Try a plain white or yellow T-shirt underneath for a cool nod to your primary-coloured roots. I love that the silhouette is slightly tailored and features a draped V-neck in the front and back. How great would the oversized jumper-dress from Monki, above, look with this?

The streetwear trend continues to rage on, showing little signs of slowing. As a result, many designers are taking ownership of casual, “athleisure” attire and transforming them into wardrobe staples with the addition of a simple applique or logo. It’s quite genius, really. We love this limited edition Helmut Lang hoodie, below, from net-a-porter.com. Cut from yellow cotton-jersey, it has a soft, brushed backing and contrasting black lettering. Dress yours up with vinyl trousers and trainers.

Bringing it back to red again, these culottes from Cos, below, are designed with a wide-leg fit for uber-comfort. The trousers are made from a drapey wool blend with a hint of stretch and they have an elastic detail at the waistband, hidden side pockets and tailored press folds. 10/10 for Cos.

The power of a subtle colour statement is unrivalled. I absolutely love these elegant face earrings from Mango, below. They’re delicate yet bold and the electric blue really pops next to the gold. What’s more, they’re very similar to these Sarah & Sebastian long face earrings, only a fraction of the price.
