Get ready because polka dots are about to be everywhere this season

Designers went gung-ho for polka dots this season, so get ready to see spots everywhere

Can you believe it's not even a full year since a black and white midi dress from Zara caused mass hysteria? The infamous viral polka dot dress was so omnipresent it inspired its own Instagram account and no shortage of editorials.

While we've likely seen enough of that particular 'hot 4 the spot' frock to last a lifetime, consider this your advance notice to get ready for the print to dominate for SS2020.

Timeless and fun polka dot dresses were seen in abundance on the catwalks in all the fashion capitals.  At Michael Kors, there were dotted black and white co-ords, while Marc Jacobs and Wes Gordon at Carolina Herrera went all out with quirky spotted dresses. While all the aforementioned designers went for big and bold polka dots, things were more subdued over at Tory Burch and Tanya Taylor where inky spots were seen on dresses and skirts.

Unsurprisingly, polka dot garments are already being....spotted (sorry, I had to) on Instagram. Go-to, Cool Girl-approved brands like Rixo, Orseund Iris, and Reformation have already been feeding the addiction with their look-at-me dresses.

Luckily, there's no shortage of this print already available on the high street to shop to your heart's content. If you thought leopard had its moment in recent years, polka dot looks set to be the new omnipresent print ?— prepare to see it absolutely everywhere this season.
