Outfits you can wear to an AW wedding and beyond

Outfits you can wear to an AW wedding and beyond

Autumn/winter wedding outfits aren’t as easy as their summer counterparts, but we have you covered with lots of options for the big day (and they can be worn afterwards too)

Summer weddings are easy. Long, flowy floral dresses paired with heeled sandals and you’re good to go. But AW weddings are a bit trickier. You want to look dressy but also not be freezing cold as you inevitably stand outside to get pictures taken.

So there are a few things to consider. One, you’ll most likely want sleeves so you don’t catch your death, and two, we tend to avoid anything too short so that you don’t have to wear tights.

Nowadays, weddings are far more casual too and in the interests of sustainability, it’s no longer viable to buy a snazzy outfit that will sit in a wardrobe forever. So, if you are on the hunt for that perfect wedding outfit, try to buy something that can be worn again to another event, or even styled differently and worn more casually.

Jumpsuits

Okay, we know they’re not exactly practical when you’ve had a few drinks at the afters, but despite that, they are a great, comfortable option.

All of these jumpsuits look suitably dressy for a fancy soiree when paired with heels and a clutch. The green, silk Whistles number would look amazing with a contrasting shoe and lip combo in a vibrant pink or orange.

Once the wedding is over, they also look equally good with a pair of black ankle boots and a leather jacket thrown on top. For the shorter-sleeved options, consider layering a thin polo-neck underneath for added cosiness.

Dresses

A dress is the easiest and most obvious choice for any wedding. Try not to choose anything too fitted or in an overly-delicate material as this will make you less likely to wear it again (dry cleaning is not ideal for day-to-day wear).

Instead, opt for flowy styles that you can wear over and over again; midi-length and wrap styles are the best for versatility. Many of these could be paired with tights or boots and even look great with a jumper layered on top.

Alternatively, in the spring, they’ll work with white trainers or sandals to dress them down even further.

Suiting

This is the easiest way to ensure you wear a wedding outfit again. You can wear the whole suit with a striped t-shirt and white trainers for instant laid-back Parisien vibes. Or, you can wear each piece separately; just throw the jacket over a dress or jeans and wear the trousers with a slinky cami and heels for an evening look.

You’ll never regret investing in a suit (just make sure you don’t leave it hanging in the back of your wardrobe). Be creative as there almost infinite ways of styling it.

There are so many options to choose from. You can go with something printed, or sumptuous black velvet (which is a classic piece to have in your wardrobe), or go all out with a vibrant colour such as orange or ruby red.
