Invest in one of these 6 jeans and you will perfect your autumn wardrobe

Invest in one of these 6 jeans and you will perfect your autumn wardrobe

A pair of good jeans is the best investment anyone will make. Here are six that will add something special to your autumn wardrobe

This pandemic has forced me to reassess my autumn wardrobe.

Last week I stared for hours at the rail in my bedroom and asked myself ‘do I really need anything new?’

I would have shopping baskets filled on my favourite websites and pinterest boards filled with inspiration in pre-corona times. However, right now, that practice doesn’t feel right.

I want to work with what I already have. Any new items gaining access to my wardrobe must have a purpose.

Do I need them?

Will I wear them more than ten times?

Do they fit my current closet aesthetic?

Buying less allows for a more considered approach to dressing. Instead of trend-led pieces taking pride of place, classics are the new must-have.

Jeans are a staple. There is no denying their power, even though we curse them every time we struggle to get them on. This season I am investing in one great pair, and I advise you to do so also.

Six pairs, in particular, that have caught my eye. Below I discuss why they are worth the investment.

Then the decision is all yours.

Six top picks

Rowe Extra high straight jeans, €50 at Weekday

Weekday does the best jeans on the online high-street. Great quality denim, great shapes and a great price point mean the brand is a top choice for fashion editors and influencers alike. The Rowe extra high-waisted straight jeans are ultra-flattering, comfortable and built to last.

ASOS Design curve high rise ‘slouchy’ mom jeans, €44.99 at ASOS

This pair of slouchy mom jeans by ASOS are top choice if you want a more relaxed look. The cinched in waist and loose shape will suit almost all body types and look perfect with boots and a knit or high heels and a nice top for any socially distanced dinner dates.

Flared stretch jeans, €69 at Arket

Flares come and go in the fashion trend world. A 1970’s staple, they were reimagined in the 1990s and 2000s but once again lost their appeal as the years progressed. But now they are back and look as fashionable as ever. This Arket pair has a beautiful streamlined shape, meaning proportions will never go out of balance. Pair with a heeled boot if you are on the shorter side to elongate the leg.

Relaxed high rise jeans, €69 at & Other Stories

Cream jeans might send some minds spiraling with images of red wine spills and chocolate stains, but cream is the perfect way to add a touch of gloss to an autumnal outfit. For best results, go for a full-on tonal look with a cream knit, cream coat and cream boots á la Jennifer Lopez in Maid in Manhattan. Just avoid wine and chocolate.

The Button Crop grey jeans, €95 at POCO by Pippa

Poco by Pippa O’ Connor is a well-loved denim brand in Ireland and for a good reason. The quality is superb and the cuts complement all shapes. Our favourite is The Button Crop in grey. The button detail adds a lovely point of difference, while the shorter hemline is perfect for those on the petite side.

Boyfriend jeans with stretch, €54 at Marks & Spencers

Don’t dismiss Marks & Spencers for jeans. It has one of the best selections of denim on the high street, catering to all tastes, shapes and styles. The boyfriend jeans come with a lovely stretch and are the ideal ‘Sunday jeans.’ Relaxed and comfortable, pair with trainers and a puffa jacket for those autumn Sunday walks.
