Why you need to buy a pair of mules (and where you can get 10 of the best)

Why you need to buy a pair of mules (and where you can get 10 of the best)

It’s time we all bought a pair of mules – even Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is a fan. Here are 10 of the best you can buy right now

I don’t know about you, but I adore a good mule.

It’s something about the ease at which I can put them on. There are no straps to fiddle with or knots to be tied. They are a ‘put on and go’ shoe – and for those of us who rush somewhere without anywhere to go, the mule is perfect.

Some say they are difficult to walk in but I disagree. Unlike many other shoes I have worn, the mule has always been the most comfortable. I am no scientist, but with the weight of your foot pushed towards the front, your balance is altogether better.

Ever since Bottega Venetta released its now cult mule, the shoe has landed front and centre in the collective fashion consciousness. Even Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is a fan – and Rosie always knows best.

Mules also make an outfit look fantastic. From a simple jeans and blazer outfit to a more sophisticated dress ensemble, the mule makes it look like you are taking a risk. And fashion always loves a risk-taker.

On the streets of both New York and London fashion weeks, the fashion insiders wore one shoe and one shoe only: the mule. Through the wind and rain of Storm Dennis, the editors and influencers braved the elements in London to showcase their favourite footwear.

Even Atlantic storms can’t stop the power of the mule, which is why I think it is time, dear reader, for you to buy a pair.
