Mrs. Maisel actress Rachel Brosnahan honours her late aunt Kate Spade in new campaign

The fashion world was left stunned and saddened at the news that designer Kate Spade had passed away in June last year after tragically taking her own life. She was only 55 at the time.

Her designs, handbags and other accessories were famous for their combination of elegance, quirky femininity and playfulness.

The SS19 campaign is for Frances Valentine (named after Spades’ daughter), the accessories line launched by the late designer in 2016.

Brosnahan announced the news on Today in the US, “It’s really lovely to see those special pieces of our family reflected through this collection and the ones before.”

Shot by Maggie Cepis, the aptly titled Love, Katy collection celebrates the colourful aesthetic Kate Spade was loved for.

She also reflected about her aunt, adding that her family wanted to do all they could to keep her spirit alive, “When you lose someone you love very, very much, you spend a lot of time trying to think about how to keep their spirit alive… There is so much of her left behind and this was an opportunity for us to celebrate her life and her legacy.”

“I don’t believe the search for ways to commemorate, to honour and to keep someone you love’s memory alive ever ends, but I’m so grateful for this collaboration with Francis Valentine. Spring was Katy’s favourite season. This collection is a celebration of her life, her spirit, her legacy and her love of a good colour pop (or six). She was a force of nature and a heck of a good time.”
