Mixing animal prints is a wonderful thing and we're here for it

Welcome to animal print 101: the delicate art of blending together the wealth of prints from the jungle to the Sahara. Fashion maximalists', you're time is now, and there are simply not enough embellishments, buttons, quirky details, straps and belts to satisfy those who lead a more-is-more kind of life. Any type of animal print can be worn together or stand-alone as separates without raising an eyebrow this season. Everyone from Penneys to Ganni and Versace are putting their own spin on this trend, offering stylish solutions to the potential car-crash that is maximalist dressing. Also, you can easily dip a toe into this trend, without going full-on head-first (see below).

This trend is really about throwing all fashion inhibitions to the wind. Of course, there are different levels of wild dressing ranging from beginner (Penneys top above), intermediate (image 4, below) and advanced (image 2, also below); and each can be altered to suit your lifestyle and fashion needs. Snakeskin can be a little more subtle than leopard or zebra and is a great "wild" base to begin with, while traditional leopard is still an excellent choice for standout accessorising.

A heavy dose of zebra accented with fiery tiger print, below, is the daytime look you didn't know you needed. Dress up sleek tiger stripes further with diamonds and luxe snakeskin for dinner parties and evenings together with friends. And did you know that the zebra and dalmation were once close friends? That may not be true, but they look pretty great together in my wardrobe.
