Maven is a perfectly calibrated creation for the Dublin boutique scene. Brainchild of Sharon Beatty, it caters to the New York shopping junkies? taste-buds by stocking brands such as Pepper and Pistol, Cotton Citizen and Samantha Pleet. "I'd always wanted to run a shop with an old-world feel but also with a bit of an edge," says Sharon. Her inspiration for Maven was the famous Williamsburg boutique Bird, and she still favours New York and LA labels as well as having introduced her own label; "The label is called Miss Beatty and I just did four or five designs to get back into it, but it's been selling really well." Its central location and Sharon's laid-back friendliness are part of the shop's charm, injecting a much-needed cosy feel into the city's shopping experience. We also love its location and lay-out on Aungier Street, one of the most quintessentially ?Dublin? streets. "I'd been eyeing up the shop for a while," admits Sharon. Along with its focus on fabrics and textures, one of Maven's great selling points is Sharon's own unique jewellery pieces which are super-chic and contemporary.
