Labels To Love In Your Forties

Labels To Love In Your Forties

If you’re looking for clothes’made to fit grown women in their forties, but with the kind of fashion edge that translates from 25 to 55, try these labels.

Gerard Darel

I’ve always been a fan of this French label, which is stocked in both House of Fraser and Harvey Nichols, Dundrum Town Centre. It offers beautiful, relaxed tailoring in quality fabrics. I love how the Macha coat above (?915) is styled. It avoids any negative animal-print associations by pairing mannish loafers and a classic white shirt with a statement leopard-print coat.

Cos

Cos has really helped to redefine what constitutes “grown-up” clothing. The fit is generous, the cuts classic, but with that essential contemporary edge. Each season, the palette is nicely curated so?all the pieces mix and match fluidly.

Massimo Dutti

I’m a fairly recent fan of this popular high-street brand. When I was younger it was a little bit too classic for me, but now I’m really drawn to its well-curated edit of separates. Again, the quality is there so I’m comfortable paying a little more than at other high-street stores. I adore this buttery yellow cashmere jumper above (?99.95), which I’d wear with a striking cobalt blue.

L.K. Bennett

This is a brand that has really evolved over the past few years. Ten years ago I considered L.K. Bennett?far too grown-up for me, but in the intervening years I’ve come to appreciate the classics more, while L.K. Bennett has slowly injected a more youthful, trend-driven vibe to its collections, so’sartorially,?we’ve met in the middle somewhere. This petrol blue coat and midi dress are?the epitome of chic sophistication.
