Iconic fashion pieces with Ena Quinn: this week on Smart Casual

Smart Casual is IMAGE’s first fashion podcast, in collaboration with Kildare Village. In our bi-weekly chats, we examine why we wear the clothes we do and deal with personal style in a way that speaks to you

Do you own a beret? A kimono? A kilt? How many staple pieces can you attribute to places and stories from around the world? That’s the topic of conversation on this week’s Smart Casual.

After an upcoming London exhibition about the history and cultural impact of kimono came to Marie and Sarah’s, their minds have been on the garment ever since. As Marie mentions, “it represents everything that fashion should be” — luxurious, timeless and full of history. They got to thinking about which other pieces hold a similar place in worldwide fashion that have transcended cultural boundaries. How many can you think of?

Our guest this week is fashion producer and Bray-native Ena Quinn, who, based in London, has produced some of the world’s most lavish fashion events, for designers like Loewe, Alexander McQueen and Marc Jacobs. In this episode, Sarah chats to Ena about how she carved a space for herself in such an interesting and elusive part of the fashion world, what it takes to become an internationally-recognised fashion producer, and what’s next for her career in 2020.

Episode 31 of Smart Casual, in collaboration with Kildare Village, is available now on SoundCloud and iTunes – make sure to like, subscribe and rate us wherever you enjoy your podcasts. Smart Casual is hosted by Marie Kelly and Sarah Rickard and produced by Erin Lindsay. If you can’t wait to download, have a listen to the new episode below:
