How to find the last of the sale gems

How to find the last of the sale gems

It’s not too late to bag yourself a sale bargain that you’ll wear for years. Here’s your cheat sheet shopping guide to the final mark-down sales buys you actually need

If you couldn’t face the online sales that spammed your inbox over Christmas, it’s not too late. Without the madness of instore sales this year, the online sales are now better than ever and the best buys are by no means gone. If you’ve hung on this long, it might even be in your favour, as final markdowns are beginning to trickle in. We’re at peak bargain right now, with “up to 70% off” now being the standard sale sell. So if you’ve been thinking about getting yourself a pair of Uggs for lockdown, now is the time – they’re currently down to €165 from €190. Or if you’ve always wanted to splash on a timeless trench coat, you’re in luck.

Here are five of the best sale buys to add to your basket quick.

THE LUXE LEGGINGS

Let’s be honest, it’s the clothing item you’re going to get the most wear out of right now, so you might as well splash out on good ones. The famous leather Spanx leggings are currently on sale for €78.40, down from €112. If you’re among those who actually wear leggings to workout, you can bag yourself Stella McCartney leggings right now for €35

THE FOREVER COAT

Now is the time to bag a classic, practical coat that won’t date. Stand Studio’s viral reversible shearling coat is currently 60% off at €226, down from €565, and technically, this counts as buying two coats. While leopard print might not be the first thing you think of when you hear ‘practical coat,’ let me talk you into it; leopard print coats are a timeless cool girl coat (thank you, Kate Moss, Alexa Chung, Sienna Miller et al). You can’t go wrong with a Ganni coat, and this leopard print one, down 50% to €142 from €285 will smarten up all your jeans and jumper outfits.

THE THROW-ON COZY DRESS

How do you make the least amount of effort with an outfit, still feel great but also stay comfortable enough that you don’t have to get changed to move from your desk to the couch later on? The answer is a knitted dress. There’s a massive selection on the high street, but Mango does it best when it comes to cosiness while still looking properly dressed for work.

THE DESIGNER JEANS

Now that we’re pretending jeans don’t exist, there’s never been so many on sale, so this is the time to get yourself a pair that you’ll own for years. Go for a sensible pair in a timeless colour from a brand with denim that’ll only improve as they age; that would be Anine Bing, who is practically giving her jeans away, with sale prices on denim starting at €29.

THE INVESTMENT KNITWEAR

You know that jumper you wish you could wear every day? The one you wear at least twice a week? Maybe it’s because the material is cozy, maybe the shade of it brightens up your day. You need another one of those. Something soothing, in a colour you love, and oversized for extra coziness. While the sales are on, make it an investment buy that’ll serve you for years, like this JW Anderson alpaca wool sweater that’ll look amazing in a world where we wear jeans again, but for now, comes complete with a funnel neck to shield your eyes from bad news.
