The Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) is prestigious as award festivals go. Similar to Cannes, many?films (big and small) premiere here, some to increase their chances at the box office, others hoping to appeal to potential buyers who will amp up its distribution. Word has it that despite 255 films set screen to overall and a host of big names in attendance, its reception was lukewarm this year, according to Variety.?What?had plenty of people?talking, however, was the fashion on’display.

Carey Mulligan played it a little safe as she walked the Mudbound red carpet wearing a structured Chanel dress, but looked undeniably elegant, the ever fashion-forward Diane Kruger wore a silver Prabal Gurung?cut-out dress and Angelina Jolie?opted for a classic black Ralph & Russo one-sleeved dress.

Highlights?included House of Cards’ Kate Mara wearing a white, paneled David Koma dress, Gone Girl actress Rosamund Pike in an embellished Alexander McQueen gown and woman of the moment, Mother! star Jennifer Lawrence in a?Sally LaPointe?two-piece outfit that only she could pull off with such ease.?
