Future Collectables: Rejina Pyo on her new capsule collection with Vestiaire Collective

Love Rejina Pyo pieces? Her new capsule collection with Vestiaire Collective is your chance to rediscover the ones that got away

For a fashion lover, there is no feeling quite like catching the piece that got away. With vintage and second-hand shopping exploding in popularity across the internet, bargain hunting for classic pieces has become even easier for style-savvy shoppers, with rare vintage pieces becoming the new status symbols, rather than new season releases.

Vestiaire Collective houses some of the finest designer second-hand pieces around, giving shoppers the option to browse pieces from sellers around the world, often for a fraction of their original price. While it may take you a while to hunt down a particular piece, a beautiful pre-loved item is worth its weight in gold.

This week, Vestiaire Collective announced a new brand partnership on the platform with none other than Rejina Pyo – the London-based designer whose focus on long-wearing classic pieces makes her the perfect partner for a platform for pre-loved fashion.

Pyo and Vestiaire Collective are today launching a limited edition capsule collection, entitled Future Collectables, of 50 pieces from Pyo’s previous collections. Each piece has been hand-picked by Pyo, and has been specially curated to capture the fun-loving aesthetic that Pyo is known for, while also encouraging customers to adopt a more respectful and considered approach to buying new clothes.

Included are highly coveted designs from past seasons, such as the Marigold Jamie Dress, the puff sleeve dress that launched the brand into mass exposure; the Greta dress, a cotton poplin style that was the fashion week go-to of style editors, and the signature Olivia Box Bag.

IMAGE spoke to Rejina Pyo and Vestiaire Collective co-founder and president Fanny Moizant about the partnership.

How Future Collectables come about?

Fanny: I love that Regina’s pieces don’t necessarily follow trends and therefore relevant season after season and bringing back pieces from previous collections really highlights. I very much stand by the philosophy; that fashion should be made to treasure!

The partnership came from shared values around quality and sustainability and we hope this collaboration will engage fashion lovers on the benefits of investing in quality pieces that can be archived and passed down to future generations.

Rejina: The core values of the brand are versatility, quality, sustainability and longevity, we don’t design pieces to follow trends. We have always encouraged our customers to wear them over a long period of time, and should they wish to part with the piece, gift it or sell it on a luxury resale platform such as Vestiaire.

I have always believed in the values of Vestiaire Collective so we are excited to partner with them on this. Hopefully their customers can find those archive Rejina Pyo pieces they have always been coveting!

Rejina, what are some of your favourite pieces that will be featured on the platform?

I love the Jamie dress – the marigold colour is so uplifting, it is pure sunshine, it puts me in a better mood just looking at it in the wardrobe, and I always feel great wearing it.

I always get stopped by people asking about the Sylvia bag, the twisted rope effect is so striking and it is perfect for the summer. I love the idea of being able to see into the bag.

I also love the Nane bag – the tie detail is inspired by traditional Korean gift wrapping, which is made with fabric tied together, it is so simple but beautiful and elegant.

Rejina, how has your personal style fared while under lockdown?

I have been living in our Larissa Sandals around the house and in the garden, the Nico shirts because the colours and prints give me positive energy, and pairing them with the mina skirt or renee shorts, all of these items are my summer staples.
