Fashion Designer Slams Beyonc? And Kim’s Style

Fashion Designer Slams Beyonc? And Kim’s Style

Fashion Designer Carolina Herrera

There has been a spate of butt on the red carpet these days. See Beyonc? and Kim Kardashian at the Met Gala and JLo at most events. Embellished gauze stretched across one’s others cheeks is in danger of becoming a trend, and with a potentially cosy summer ahead of us, it may even be forced upon us.

ICYMI: The Best and Worst of the Met Gala 2015

However, fashion designer and industry icon Carolina Herrera is here to fight the noble fight against the type of gowns that have been nabbing red carpet headlines. In an interview in the Washington Post, the 76-year-old told fashion critic, Robin Givhan, that all those Met Gala gowns were fashion misdemeanours and ill-guided attempts at tapping into the youth market. ?It’s so modern to be naked or almost naked,? Herrera said. ?They think it’s going to attract young people if they do those dresses. No!?

That’s some adamant censure from a woman who dressed Jacqueline Onassis and counts Michelle Obama and Ren?e Zellweger among her regular high=profile customers. Herrera’s designs are known for their elegant silhouettes and are usually critical hits when adorned by big names.

Herrera is calling for some fashionable restraint among the usual subjects: ?They’re trying to get people to pay attention to them. In life, there should be a little mystery? They’re supposed to be fashion icons and they’re not wearing anything. It’s an obsession now.?

Do you agree with Carolina?
