You probably already own a traditional black blazer. It’s a classic staple in almost every working woman’s fashion world. Personally, I find them classically boring. It’s very rare I’ll come across one I desperately need to buy, whether it’s from Zara or Givenchy - frankly, they do nothing for me. But lately, I’m seeing both high-fashion brands and high-street retailers incorporating unexpected palettes of refreshing blues, candy-floss pinks, floral embroidery, flamboyant colours, and velvet finishes. It’s becoming a down-right sassy style.
AW18 designers have revitalised the formal blazer and given it a contemporary refresh. Gucci gave us eccentric designs. Erdem showcased whimsical golden floral embroidery with sharp lapels and a peplum finishes, while Dior brought patchwork perfection with a masculine touch to the runway. With so many different shapes, loud colours and endless styling possibilities, it’s obvious that a traditional blazer can give you major fashion credibility; and has the ability to suit anyone. Give your blazers an updated, fashion-forward look by pairing yours with a ruffled-neck polo, stacked bracelets and chunky boots. Maybe even layer a cool cropped hoodie underneath for extra warmth. It’s a statement jacket for the flaunty and fabulous.
So ditch blazers coming in white, black or otherwise, and go for something with personality. Fashion is all about self-expression after all. From Mango, Zara and Bershka, check-out my edit on eight unique blazers that you can shop now!
