Celestine Cooney’s Style secrets

Celestine Cooney’s Style secrets

Celestine Cooney was born and raised in the Meath countryside. She moved to London in 2003 to work for Dazed & Confused Magazine. She is fashion director of Twin Magazine and a contributing fashion editor to The Wall Street journal, The New York Times T Magazine, Dazed, Vanity Fair, Vogue and recently styled Gwyneth Paltrow for Harper’s Bazaar UK. Celestine is currently based between New York and her home in Hackney, East London.

I like to shop at Dover Street Marketin London. It is a Comme des Garc?ons enterprise, so they’re completely in tune with the undercurrents of fashion, culture and art, not just the surface area. Their streetwear, homeware and book section run by IDEA Books Ltd downstairs is my favourite floor. The guys at IDEA Books?will find any iconic?book you’ve looked?for and have never?been able to find?yourself (idea-books.com).

My signature fragrance is Comme des garc?ons Kyoto. It’s the only thing I’ve worn for the past ten years.

My favourite designer is?Miuccia Prada, of Prada and?Miu Miu. She is incredibly?gifted at interpreting fashion through art and culture, while’still keeping it real. Season?after season, she never fails to produce newness that is down’to earth and completely relevant?to its time. My pick from the current collections is this daisy-print cropped blouse at www.net-a-porter.com.

I love to have afternoon tea, and I love it even more with champagne. Claridge’s in London is everything afternoon tea should be.

On my coffee table right now is a copy of Branded Youth and Other Stories by Bruce Weber (Little, Brown, €80).

I spend a lot of time in New York City for work, and I love holidaying in the Catskill Mountains in Upstate New York. You can sunbathe naked, swim in lakes, and there’s a polo farm up there where my friend keeps his horses, so I can ride in summer and snowboard in the mountains in winter.
