Brown Thomas Launches Its SS18 Collection

This morning Brown Thomas launched its SS18 collection in store with a catwalk show that featured looks from Sies Marjan to Zimmerman. For me, the standout collection was Céline. The buy was considered, offering the French label's signature mix of directional pieces and understated chic.

Sies Marjan was another favourite. The New York-based brand creates pieces that combine modernity and femininity beautifully. Each piece looks like the most effortless thing to wear but without sacrificing any wow factor.

Stella McCartney's offering was disappointing. I have always loved the fluidity of her silhouettes and the ease of movement they provide, but this year the pieces on show at Brown Thomas looked a little sack-like, a little too utilitarian. Although there were only two looks from Australian-born, Paris-based designer Maticevski, they were both show-stoppers. One was a full-length strapless monochrome dress with an asymmetric hem, the other a shift dress with directional detailing at the waist and shoulders.

One of two looks from Maticevski at the Brown Thomas SS18 launch this morning.

Peter Pilotto's prints and silhouettes looked fresh and modern, while Erdem and Zimmerman were unapologetically pretty. For anyone with a slightly more boyish aesthetic, The Row was a dream (shame about the prohibitive price point) and the one womenswear outfit from Off-White perfect for anyone with a sports luxe aesthetic.
